CPI Participated in the Arab Civil Society Childhood Forum

The CPI Program Officer participated in the Arab Civil Society Childhood Forum, Organized by the Arab Council for Childhood and Development, UNICEF, League of Arab States, and AGFUND, in Cairo during 27-29 November, 2005.

 The forum was attended by more than 50 regional and international organizations discussed five themes:

-          The experience of civil society in childhood Survival.

-          The experience of civil society in child protection.

-          The experience of civil society in childhood development.

-          The experience of civil society in poverty eradication.

-          The experience of civil society in childhood participation.

 

The CPI Program Officer made a presentation on the experience of the CPI in child protection, in addition to his participation in the discussions. He was also a member of the recommendations panel.

 The Forum also included parallel workshops sessions on child participation, violence & neglect against children, adequate environment for children, quality of education, early childhood development and childhood health care. The forum ended with some recommendations and Cairo Declaration which announced the institutionalization of the Arab Civil Society Forum for childhood and launched the activities of its permanent secretariat which will be hosted by the Arab Council for Childhood and development in Cairo.
