Under the patronage of Al –Madinah Municipality, and in the framework of the Child Protection Initiative in Al-Madina, the Guidance and Directives Committee for Al-Madina Children and Youth Consultative Council held a meeting with the Council's elected members (boys and girls), on Tuesday 2/2/1428 H, The meeting was held in Al-Maha’araat Training Hall, at Ubai bin Ka’ab Primary School.  The meeting was concluded with the election of the President of the council, a Vice-president, as well as a Coordinator for the male section, and another coordinator for the female section.   The results of the elections were as follows:

• Mr Omar Mohammed Barazik was elected as President.
• Ms. Jullanar Nasha’at Mahmoud Diwali was elected as Vice-president.
• Mr Abdallah Hassan Al-Hazimi was elected as coordinator for the male section.
• Ms. Samira Wasl Al-Mitairi was elected as coordinator for the female section.

It is noteworthy that the Children and Youth Consultative Council represents one of projects proposed by  the consultative workshop entitled, “ Al-Madinah Children and Youth :  the Hope of the Future”,  held under the High Patronage of His Royal Highness,  Prince Migrin bin Abdul Aziz,  former Governor of Al-Madinah Region,  on Saturday 11/5/1426H,  which identified 81 priority projects,  which are currently being implemented by relevant agencies,  with the full participation of youth at all stages of preparation and planning.

Out of all the projects identified by that workshop, the Consultative Council was designated as a high priority, on the grounds that it provides the foundations for effective participation of youth in decision making, as well as their participation in defining other projects that hopefully will be implemented jointly by the CPI and Al-Madinah Municipality, similar to the projects which are currently being implemented by the CPI in more than 10 cities across the MENA region.  The Council held its first meeting on Saturday 7/2/1428H where it has been decided to convey messages of thanks and gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Majid Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Al-Madinah Region, and to all members of the Guidance and Directives Committee on the occasion election of the Consultative Council, and for their efforts to enable the participation of children and youth in decision making, in the issues concerning them.  The Council also decided to convey a message of thanks and gratitude to His Excellency Abdulla Al-Nuaim President of the Board of Trustees and AUDI President, for AUDI's interests and its  commitment  to children and youth issues.

The council also decided that its meetings be held periodically on the evening of each first Wednesday of the lunar months, and that extraordinary meetings might be scheduled according to need. The meeting was concluded by the designation of the priority topics proposed for discussion within the Council's tenure. 

It is noteworthy that,  in its general framework,  the Council aims to realize the effective participation of children and youth in the issues concerning them, in order to propose solutions for their problems, and to express the viewpoint of their generation,  its aspirations and ambitions in endeavours that can contribute to realizing a positive development that suit them.
