The MENA CPI participates in the inauguration of “Amman – a Child-Friendly City”, celebrated in Amman, Jordan

Dr. Gamal Mahmoud Hamid,  CPI Director, participated in the inauguration of the “Amman, the Child-Friendly City” project, celebrated in Amman on 4th July,  2005,  under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al – Abdallah in Amman.   The inauguration of this project confirms the priority assigned to children’s issues by the Municipality of Greater Amman and its commitment to children’s issues.  The project’s document aims to  declare Amman “The Child Friendly-City” by the year 2010.

From this perspective, the Municipality of Greater Amman has outlined a policy consisting of ten priority subjects aiming to cover the needs and rights of children. The latter  consists of : providing support  for the development of  infrastructure; implementation of the development of suitable projects that guarantee a safe and healthy urban environment that  provides playgrounds as well as  a suitable educational framework for children;   and an effective contribution in supporting projects aiming  to promote development,  protection,  and widespread participation of children with a close focus on disadvantaged children and disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
