In the framework of the MOU signed by Khartoum State and the MENA CPI, the localities of Oum Badda and Jabal Al Awlia have organized two workshops, with the aim to define a strategy and a work plan capable of ensuring the protection of children and offering a training programme to educators in these districts. The first workshop was conducted in Oum Badda, from 22nd to 24th January, 2007; the second from 27th to 29th January, 2007. About 60 participants have participated in these two workshops, representing the social, educational, as well as the health and security sectors, in addition to representatives of civil society from Oum Badda and Jabal Al Awlia. The first workshop was honoured by the participation of Dr Samia Al habbani, Minister of Social Affairs in Khartoum State, and professor Mohammed Yousef Adam, commissioner of Oum Badda, in addition to Dr Najwan Shamsuddin, Secretary of the Council For Childhood Protection in Khartoum State.
The second workshop was honoured by the participation of Professor Ameera Al Fadil, Secretary General of the National council For Childhood Protection, as well as Dr Gamal Mahmoud Hamid, CPI Director. Each of these workshops constituted a committee with the aim to conceptualize a strategy and a work plan for the protection of children in these two districts, taking into consideration the related training programmes and discussions emanating from these workshops. The résumé of these two work plans would then be delivered to the participants and authorities for revision, before being submitted to the authorities at Oum Badda and Jabal Al Awlia for their adoption and implementation.
