The CPI Director, Dr. Gamal Hamid, participated in the third World Urban Forum (WUF3) held in Vancouver, Canada, during 19th – 23rd June 2006. He participated in a number of relevant plenary sessions, dialogues and workshops on Children and Youth in Cities, addressing urban poverty, slum upgrading, urban observatories, etc. He also participated in several sessions organized by the International Youth Forum. Hosted by the Government of Canada and organized by UN-Habitat, under the title "Our Future: Sustainable Cities – Turning Ideas into Action", WUF3 was attended by about 9,700 participants from 160 countries. It boasted 5 plenary sessions, 13 roundtables, 6 dialogues, 160 networking sessions and several special sessions and side events.
The Form was a good opportunity to present the CPI to an international gathering of professionals and civil society representatives, and to network with those who share similar objectives.
