The CPI Director, Dr. Gamal Hamid, visited the World Bank Headquarters in Washington D.C, from 14th -15th June 2006. He held several meetings with Bank executives and staff, including Mr. Abdulrahman Almofadhi, Executive Director; Mr. Jean Fares, Economist, Human Development Network; and from the MNA Region he met with Mr. Michal Rutkowski, Director, Human Development Department; Mr. Hedi Larbi, Urban and Transport Sector Manager; Mr. Omer Karasapan, Knowledge Coordinator; Mr. Steve Karam, Senior Urban Economist; Mr. Ahmed Eiweida, Senior Urban Specialist; Mr. Arun Joshi, Senior Education Specialist; Mr. Jonh Blomquist, Senior Economist, and Ms. Christina Djemmal.
The meetings discussed the on-going World Bank-AUDI/CPI collaboration on Child Protection Initiative, Rabat Conference and the City Development Strategy in the MENA Region.
Dr. Hamid made a presentation entitled "The Child Protection Initiative Highlights and Future Prospects" at a brown-bag lunch gathering presided over by Mr. Carlos Silva-Jauregui , Advisor, MNSED.
