In order to raise awareness about he challenges facing children and concerned governmental and non-governmental institutions in Aden, the CPI organized, on 13th November 2007, a consultative workshop entitled "The Status and Needs of Children and Concerned Institutions in Aden". The workshop was organized in collaboration with Aden Municipality and was attended by 60 participants, including H.E. the Mayor of Aden and his Deputy, and representatives of relevant government agencies, international organizations, NGOs, scholars and the local media.
Mr. Mohammed Al-Zaghier, Childhood Expert, presented the findings of an assessment of the conditions of children and concerned institutions that was commissioned by the CPI. 17 working papers on various issues related to children in Aden were also presented and discussed in the workshop.
Subsequently, recommendations intended to upgrade the status of children and institutions were proposed by the participants. The CPI will follow up with Aden Municipality and relevant agencies and organizations on the implementation of those recommendations.
