Mr. Amin Juma’an, Deputy Mayor of Sana’a Municipality and Secretary General of its Local Council, and Dr. Gamal Hamid, MENA CPI Director, and Ms. Naseem Al-Maliki, coordinator of Sana’a CPI, visited on 28th February 2008, the Orphan Childrens’Home for boys and Zainab School for Girls in order to follow up on the preparations for election of Sana’a Children and Adolescents Local Council that will take place on Saturday 1st March 2008.
21,200 children aged 10-16 years have been registered in representative public and private schools, as well as in schools and homes for children with special needs. Of those, 485 have been nominated to run for elections to the Local Council that will eventually have 28 members.
