The conference will be organized jointly by the Arab Urban Development Institute (AUDI), the National School for Architecture, Rabat Municipality and the World Bank in collaboration with MedChild Institute and the Middle East and North Africa Child Protection Initiative (MENA CPI). The conference will be held in Rabat, Morocco, during 4th – 6th December 2006.
The conference is intended to discuss the issues faced by youth (12-24 years) in the MENA region, especially those related to their economic prospects and potentials. It is also intended to highlight their needs in urban areas, the characteristics of urban environments that suit them and the roles of urban authorities in tackling youth issues. The conference will also facilitate networking, sharing of experiences and best practices, and discuss their importance to local administrations concerned with youth issues in the MENA cities.
This conference will provide the framework for an exchange of ideas and expertise. It also aims to highlight the activties and achievements of partners in approaching youth issues, both in the MENA region and abroad .
