With the growing awareness of child rights at the global and regional level, and within the framework of the Middle East and North Africa Child Youth Initiative (AUDI MENA CYI), the National Council for Children and Motherhood and Cairo governorate concern about the children's issues in Egypt, and to address and tackle the social problems that they encounter among which is the most important problem of street children. A workshop on street children was held under the title: ‘Street Children: Present and Outlook’ under the auspices of the Governor of Cairo, in Cairo city, a workshop on street children was held on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 to investigate the problems / issues of street children in Cairo Governorate and function to handle it in Cairo Governorate.
The number of workshop participants was (79), representing decision-makers, officials who are in charge of drawing up the plans and setting up the programs in public and private sector, local authorities, governments and municipalities as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations at the local, regional and international level in addition to social workers, academics, media men and street children.
