A delegation of The MENA CPI including Dr. Gamal Hamid (Project Director), Prof. Osman Nour (Project Consultant) and Mr. Yasir Awad El-Karim (Program officer) attended a workshop organized by the consultants who are conducting an assessment of children's issues  and concerned agencies in Khartoum in December, 2004, While in Khartoum to attend the ATO’s meeting.  The workshop included the Secretaries of the National Childhood Council and the Khartoum State Childhood Council, in addition to representatives of concerned NGOs and GOs.  They also met with the Wali of Khartoum, the minister of Social welfare and development and with the State Minister of Social and Cultural Affairs.  All of them were very supportive of the CPI and expressed their readiness to collaborate fully in its implementation.
